Features Included in Your Home

We have great news for you. Our features are your features. Each home constructed by Mike Doherty Homes includes the features developed by you and your architect. We do have suggestions and Mike and Judy will gladly assist you with any decisions regarding the construction and finishes of your home. At the end of the day, each home is detailed by you and reflects your individual style and needs.

Why is this great news? There are no Change Orders to write, execute and pay in advance. There are no change order fees. In reading “The Process” page, I spoke of the “thought, time and effort” put into your dream home. We do not feel you should be financially penalized because you did not want to decide everything at the onset of this project or simply changed your mind.

Energy Efficiency is particularly important in today’s design and construction. We absolutely think everything should be done to address energy costs for your new home. We address the windows, roof and water heating. We like the spray foam insulation program that insulates the rafters and roof decking creating an “envelope” for your environment. These items add building costs to your home pricing but they all will pay you back. In time, you will recover the cost of these upgraded energy items and then you are rewarded with low utility costs as long as you live in your home. Incorporate as much as the budget will allow.

As indicated above, you and your architect draw up the specifications on your home. Of course, we meet or exceed all building codes.
